Kellie-Anne Poirier is living her dreams! At 13, she is representing the UAE on The Voice Kids, Canada (“La Voiz Junior”.) Kellie-Anne has been living in Dubai since she was 6 years old. At 7 she learned the guitar and would sing along as she played. Her music teacher told her she had an amazing voice, and since then it has been Kellie-Anne’s dream to pursue music. In the midst of her traveling, Kellie-Anne was nice enough to answer a few questions for us!
We know you started playing music at a young age, who was your biggest influence?
When I started to play the guitar at around 6 years old, I was highly influenced by Taylor Swift.
Who is your favorite musical artist performing today?
I love lots! But if I have to pick a favorite I will say Sia. Her voice is beyond this world and she is so diversified as an artist.
Do you write any of your own music? How do your songs come together?
I recently started to write my own songs and I’m loving it. So far I’ve been using my own experience combined with some fictional creative ideas. I also find my beats based on my favorite music influences.
What was the last movie you saw? Did you like it?
The Shallows. Yes I liked it. Especially when Sia sings at the end 😉
If you could pick 2 celebrities to be your parents for a day, who would they be?
Lol. Hummmm…Gosh. My parents are already celebrities to me but hey, let’s say Gwen Stefani and Liam Neeson (I know it’s a very weird couple but I have my reasons)
What do you see yourself doing 10 years from now?
I understand how important education is therefore I invest effort and energy into it. That said, I am highly passionate by music and I’m invited to move to NYC for lots of opportunities so let’s see what the future holds for me. If all this works, I would be the happiest girl on earth. If not, I’ll dedicate myself to become a doctor, more precisely dermatologist.
On October 23rd Kellie-Anne had her “blind audition” and will be a member of team Marie-Mai! We will have to keep watching to see how Kellie-Anne progresses in the upcoming rounds!
The adventure doesn’t end when the show does. Kellie-Anne will participate in the Voice kids tour in December in Montreal and Quebec City.
We wish Kellie-Anne all the luck moving forward!
